What's your background?

I studied history of science, and I make art — animations, games, sculptures — about how knowledge travels and the evolving scientific self. I grew up in Beijing and came to the US by myself at age 15.

What's it like to do your work at Analogue?

A dormant dream from the past is suddenly real and better.

What did you almost become instead?

Documentary filmmaker, game environment artist, history PhD student. I still do work essential to all these identities, but I trimmed the possibility to become them.

“I can't wait for the day when…”

…I venture around the world with crazy scientists and imagine worlds with them.

What are the three places on earth where you feel most like yourself?

  • Wherever my computer is.
  • Wherever my friends and family are.
  • Hutongs in Beijing.
