Analogue Expeditions
Seeking unconventional ideas that work
We search for brilliant minds working on breakthrough ideas outside traditional paths. Sometimes these take the form of technical discoveries or scientific insights. Other times they emerge as novel syntheses or unexpected connections. What matters is the potential to open new possibilities.
Our support adapts to what each quest needs — starting with $1,000-$10,000 in initial funding for 10 pioneers in our first cohort, with follow-on funding available as ideas demonstrate promise. We provide support across the full development timeline and are comfortable with long-term trajectories. Additional support can include time, space to think, or connections to fellow explorers.
We're particularly drawn to ideas that:
- Might unlock new possibilities if successful
- Might create ripple effects across multiple domains
- Have some preliminary evidence of working (even if anecdotal or personal) or a well-reasoned basis
- Consider what to remove or stop doing, not just what to add
- Would teach us something interesting even if they fail
We don't have rigid requirements about credentials, track records, or institutional affiliations. We care about the depth of your thinking and the scope of your ambition.
If you're working on something that doesn't fit neatly into existing funding categories — too early for venture capital, too unorthodox for research grants, too ambitious for traditional fellowships — we want to hear from you. No idea is too small or too big.
We’re open to donors and investors, please reach out here.
